Jono Manson to Produce Book of Shadows

I'm really very honored and proud to have Jono Manson signed on to produce "Book of Shadows". We met a few months ago at a gig he was doing with Vince Bell and Catfish Hodge here in Santa Fe. I was blown away by his performance, and after speaking breifly, I sensed such a good, warm vibe from him. We met last week at his secluded mountain studio, and once again I was struck by the feel and creative charge both in the studio environment it's self and with Jono. We both pretty much hit it off, and it was decided there on the spot that we would enjoy working together.

I had asked Jono not to listen to my previous work because I didn't want him to have a preconceived notion on how to approach my new project or me as an artist. However, being the pro that he is, there's no worry of him doing that anyway. It's not to say that I'm not proud of my previous work...far from it. But where "Color of Rain" stands as my most diverse work to date, "Book of Shadows" will be my most expressive. We'll be going after richer, more ambient tones and textures in this mostly dark collection of songs I have written for this project. "There are no up tempo songs on this album" I told Jono. At least not yet...I am considering writing something with a little bounce to it...but it will be the only one like it on the album. We'll see.

In terms of arrangement...the music will inform the instrumentation for the most part...but this will be an over all electric, rock sounding project. I really trust Jono's expertise on this, and I know that whatever we wind up with, it will be fantastic!
